It is every child’s right to be protected and kept safe from abuse that is physical, emotional, sexual, and neglect. Children and young people could be abused in a family, institutional or community setting by persons known to them or strangers.
The signs of a child being abused may not always be obvious and children may not speak to anybody about what is happening or has happened to them. The child may show signs of abuse from the categories outlined in this section. The list may not be comprehensive or definitive but gives an indication of situations which should alert you to possible causes for concern.
