Working with Young Parents

Young parents bring lots of energy and enthusiasm to being parents and carers. Without support, they and their children can be vulnerable. Please find a summary of national and local learning here

Research and learning reviews show that young parents can face discrimination and disadvantage, making them and their young children very vulnerable.

There are lots of good resources to engage with young families from early help through to child protection concerns.

The NCT has a range of resources here and some good practice cases studies and articles here, including information about the value of small groups.

Government research about teenage parents is here

Safe Lives has information about domestic abuse, young people and young parents.

Family Rights Group Project 2016 information can be accessed here.
